The Best Non Alcoholic White Wines 2023

There is nothing worse than opening a bottle of alcohol-free white wine, taking a sip, then tipping it down the sink.

Although it’s not quite as difficult as alcohol-free red wine to get right, there are still some winemakers who do it really well, and some who do it….if I’m being honest….terribly.

Luckily I have done the hard work for you and created a round up of the best non-alcoholic white wines on the market. Cheers to that!

Alcohol Free White Wine

Lets start with my favorites, which is the Giesen 0% Sauvignon Blanc….I would go so far as to say this is the best non-alcoholic Sauvignon Blanc on the market.

Giesen 0% Sauvignon Blanc

Alcohol: not more than 0.5%

Calories: 13 calories per 100ml

Sugar: 1.3g per 100ml

Dry and crisp, this is everything you’d expect from a high quality Sauvignon Blanc. Pale yellow in color, this well balanced wine has a slight acidic finish and is low in sugar.

If you’re looking for a non-alcoholic dry white wine, this one is for you.

I love using this wine to make a white wine spritzer, using half soda water and half wine.

1920 Non-Alcoholic Sauvignon Blanc

Alcohol: not more than 0.5%

Calories: 20 calories per 100ml

Sugar: 2.7g per 100ml

bottle of white wine with a green label and 1920 written in white with a white lid and background.

Made in Australia, this wine is made from premium South Australian grapes that are harvested in the cool of the night. Why, you ask? Because it’s believed this creates a more robust flavor profile – how cool is that?

I just love the same thought and care is being put into alcohol-free wines as full strength wine. Times they are a-changing!

Lautus Savvy White

Alcohol: not more than 0.5%

Calories: 18 calories per 100ml

Sugar: 1.3g per 100ml

green wine bottle with a white label and the branding Lautus written across the front in gray.

The Lautus is a Sauvignon Blanc inspired white, with grapes sourced from premium vineyards in South Africa. It’s a lovely light wine that is easy to drink. With notes of tropical fruits and lime, it has a slightly dry finish and beautiful mouth feel.

Leitz Eins-Zwei Zero Riesling

Alcohol: not more than 0.5%

Calories: 17 calories per 100ml

Sugar: 3.8g per 100ml

green wine bottle with a light blue label and lid with the branding on the front.

I haven’t tried many alcohol-free Rieslings – to be honest I was never much of a Riesling drinker and would only share a bottle with my Dad now and then.

This one was recommended to me by a friend and gosh, it is good. It’s full of flavor, well balanced and has a nice clean finish.

Giesen 0% Pinot Gris

Alcohol: not more than 0.5%

Calories: 18 calories per 100ml

Sugar: 2.7g per 100ml

bottle of Giesen non-alcoholic Pinot Gris with a white label and gold wording on the label.

Yes I know, another Giesen wine. But let’s face it, the folks over at Giesen know what they’re doing when it comes to wine, and we love them for that!

I was always more of a Sauvignon Blanc drinker myself, but trust me when I tell you this is a delicious wine.

It’s well balanced and crisp, has a lovely mouthfeel and could easily be mistaken for a full strength wine. It’s fruity with a lovely dry finish, but not as dry as the Sauvignon Blanc.

Next Destination Non-Alcoholic Chardonnay

Alcohol: not more than 0.5%

Calories: 17 calories per 100ml

Sugar: 2.5g per 100ml

bottle of alcohol-free Next Destination chardonnay with a blue and yellow label and black lid.

Could this be the best non-alcoholic Chardonnay? Granted, I haven’t tried them all, but wow this one is good.

It’s full flavoured, has a lovely buttery mouthfeel and oak tannins (but not overly oaky like some Chardonnays can be). It’s also vegan friendly, low in sugar and low in calories – winning!

Tips for choosing the best alcohol-free Wine

If I can offer any tips when choosing an alcohol-free white wine it would be these:

  • There are plenty of ‘wines’ out there that are, quite literally, grape juice. But a good alcohol-free wine will have always gone through the entire wine making process, then had the alcohol removed at the end. Always look for wording on the bottle such as ‘alcohol removed wine’ or ‘dealcoholized wine’. If it has a high % of grape juice – that’s probably what it will taste like!
  • Follow the wine makers recommendations when it comes to chilling. Some wine does best out of the fridge for a period of time prior to drinking. This can bring out the flavor in the wine and make for a better drinking experience.
  • If you are pregnant and avoiding alcohol completely, note there are some wines that do have up to 0.5% alcohol. Many individuals are not concerned about this, as this amount is often found in ripe fruit or even hamburger buns! But if you’re avoiding alcohol completely, choose a wine that is 0%.

So there you have it – the best non-alcoholic white wines of 2022.
