How to survive and THRIVE during festival season ☀ – Libra

July 06, 2023

Festival season is upon us and we couldn’t be happier about it.

You can find Libra at RBC Bluesfest this week in Ottawa and the following weekend at Sommo Fest in Cavendish, PEI.

There’s really nothing quite like attending a music or art festival in the summer with your friends- there’s so much fun to be had and memories to be made. However, the days can be long and grueling. We’ve made a list of all our essential tips for not just surviving festival season, but THRIVING during festival season- so all of the memories are good ones.

    1. Stay hydrated.

Perhaps one of the most important during long, hot days is keeping yourself hydrated. Most festivals will allow you to bring in your own empty water bottle so you can easily refill and have access to water throughout the day. If not- check out the beer tents and vendors. Maybe you’ll find a delicious new NA option!

    2. The buddy system.

Two heads are better than one! If you’re traveling with a group, pick one friend to keep tabs on one another for the entirety of the trip. Designating a meet-up spot ahead of time will also make things easier throughout the day.

   3. Pack appropriately.

Make sure you’ve got all the essentials! Sunscreen, sunglasses, portable charger, rain poncho and a hat to protect from the sun just to name a few. Fanny packs make the perfect festival bag to bring along with you-and have close to your chest!

  4. Comfy footwear.

A must! With large festivals come lots of traveling by foot and standing for long periods of time. Something you’re used to- and not testing out a cute new pair of shoes is the key to success.

  5. Eat something.

Make time for eating and keep yourself full throughout the day. Fuelling up is a necessity. Check out the food vendors or pack snacks if the festival grounds allow for it. Make sure to bring cash just in case of cash-only food stands!

Most importantly- have the time of your life. We hope to see you there!
