Simple and delicious, my coconut water mocktail with orange is nourishing, hydrating and can be made in minutes. Naturally sweetened with a little honey or maple syrup, these flavors balance perfectly to create a mocktail recipe you’ll want to make again and again.
Why you'll love this recipe
You'll love this mocktail with coconut water because it's
- So quick and easy: You don't need any bartending skills to whip this mocktail up at home in minutes.
- Nourishing and hydrating: did you know coconut water is often referred to as natures energy drink due to the vitamins and minerals it contains? I've wanted to make a mocktail with a coconut water base for SO long for this very reason and I hope you love this as much as I do!
- Can be made as a batch mocktail: yes! This recipe can be made as a batch mocktail for a party of for guests. I'll include the method I use below.
Ingredients - what you need
- Coconut water: be sure to choose a natural coconut water with no added sugar - coconut water is already sweet enough!
- Orange and lemon juice: I always love using freshly squeezed if possible, but bottled works great here too!
- Apple cider vinegar: not only is apple cider vinegar good for you, it also offers a little 'bite' and body that can often be missing in non-alcoholic drinks. Hint: you can replace this with non-alcoholic rum if you prefer!
- Honey or your preferred choice of sweetener: I love using honey because I think it works perfectly with the coconut and orange flavors. You can replace this with maple syrup or your choice of sweetener if you wish!
Equipment
You don't need a lot of equipment to make this recipe! I recommend:
A shaker: this is a shake and serve recipe so a mocktail shaker is definitely handy here. But if you don't have one, there are plenty of alternatives you'll likely have lying around the house. My favorites are a mason jar or a drink bottle - anything with a tight lid will work!
A jigger or measuring spoon/cup: to make sure you get the quantities just right.
A manual or automatic juicer (optional): if you're preparing fresh juice for your coconut mockail, be sure to have a juice of some description on hand.
How to make a coconut water mocktail
Add the coconut water, lemon juice orange juice to your shaker. Remember you can always use a mason jar or something else with a tight fitting lid if you wish!
Add the apple cider vinegar and honey (or your preferred choice of sweetener, followed by your ice. 2-3 regular sized cubes should do it! Place the lid on the shaker and shake for 10 - 15 seconds.
Fill your glass with ice and strain the mixture in. Garnish with dehydrated citrus wheels if you wish!
Expert tips and tricks
Chill your ingredients prior to using: nothing dilutes a mocktail faster than warm ingredients hitting ice in the shaker! Chill any ingredients you can prior to use.
Dress it up with my homemade dehydrated citrus wheels: I think we can all agree that we often taste with our eyes first when it comes to both food and drinks, so why not dress up your mocktail a little?!
Choose a 'no added sugar' coconut water: be sure to check the ingredients on your coconut water. Coconut water is already naturally super sweet and should not need any additional sugar or flavorings.
